MEETINGS, ACTIVITIES, AND OTHER EVENTS
It gives us tremendous pride to be one of the most active cultural organizations on campus. Over the years, the variety of-and participation in-our events has only grown. We host several events which allow students to have fun and meet new people!
Visit us on Facebook (www.facebook.com/mvchineseclub) or email [email protected] if you have questions about activities, have suggestions, or want to be put on the emailing list!
Membership is free and open to all Monta Vista students.
Bi-monthly Meetings: We do several interactive cultural presentations in order to keep you entertained and knowledgeable. Whether they're on dynasties, pirates, poetry, holidays, or making food, there is always a funny video, music, crafts, snacks, or candy after each presentation so stick around until the end!
Pearl Milk Tea Parties: At least twice a year!
We play a Chinese culture related movies and dramas and give out free pearl milk tea (and if we have enough funds, crispy chicken) to members! Members can definitely request certain movies!
Valentine's Day Fundraiser: Our annual fundraiser in February where we sell decorated roses and stuffed animals as well as delivering them on Valentine's Day right to your classroom!
Chinese New Year Celebration: Our first meeting of 2nd semester open to everyone, where we celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year and take an in-depth (and sometimes a jab at society's flawed) look at its associated traditions, including food, myths, and more! Bring friends, enjoy free food, ace a quiz bowl and win prizes!
Orange Tree Fundraiser: Raises funds for the club and various disaster relief charities (Labor Day weekend)
Karaoke Parties: Celebrated if enough members are interested! Usually combined with food and fun prizes!
Zoma Worldwide Summer Internship: Our partner Zoma Worldwide visits our school in the Spring to offer an exciting internship program for high school students which allows students to go abroad over the summer and work side-by-side with professionals in Shanghai.
Feel free to browse through our archives to see pictures and more details of our past events!
