Our hiatus is over.
As you may or may not have known, MVCC went into a dormant state of inactivity. We are more than pleased to inform you that we are now back and about to be bigger than ever. Our first meeting of the year for Monta Vista's Chinese Club on Thursday, 9/13, in Mrs. Liu's (A204) at lunch. Come by and bring all your friends to learn more about our future events and club activities. Expect the return of our Pearl Milk Parties, Calligraphy Studio Sessions, Movie Nights, and prepare to take part in our new events like our upcoming field trip through historic SF Chinatown and Worth It: Dim Sum Tour!! We will be hosting a variety of Chinese cultural activities throughout the year such as games, movies, crafts, karaoke, pearl milk tea parties (oh yes!), and more! For the first time in Chinese Club History, we will be hosting our first annual Monta Vista Night Market! This is a community-wide event and will take place on May 17th, 2014, from 6 - 9 PM in the Rally Court. Several other clubs will be joining us so come out and support your favorite clubs! Also we will be running a Maid and Cosplay Cafe alongside Anime Club so be sure to stop by! Second, we have another meeting this Thursday! It will be the last official meeting of the club before our End Of Semester Party so be sure to come! Third, we will finally will have club apparel. We will be voting on colors and ordering by the end of the week so look forward to the email that will be sent soon! Hope you had a wonderful break! Our next meeting is this Thursday, (4/24) in A203 during Lunch! We will be finalizing our club T-shirt and playing a fun activity so we hope you will come join us to relax a little before AP Testing! Chinese Club T-shirts are $10 and paid members from last year will get them for free. Also for frequent members of Chinese Club, you can get activity points for your dedication to the club! Print out the activity point sheet on Schoolloop and get it signed by our officers and adviser Mrs. Chang! We have a few announcements that you might be interested in that include our officer internships, a law event this Saturday, and a few contests you can enter for up to $200 in money prizes! Wow! Chinese Club Internships! Intern positions (interns for becoming 2014-2015 school year's officers) for MVCC are now open for application! Legally Asian is holding their 5th Annual conference in at the Golden Gate University in San Francisco to expose college and high-school students to law school, explain career options available with a law degree, and discuss current issues that Asian and Pacific Islander communities face. Do you have a Chinese song that can't get out of your head? The unstoppable ability to write pinyin out on a keyboard? The undeniable quest to film the best Chinese video project ever? Well then, look no further! The district and a few of Cupertino's Chinese schools (CACLEC) are hosting a Karaoke, Typing, and Video contest to encourage students to use their Chinese language outside of home and show how much fun learning Chinese can be! Anyone that is studying Chinese can join! Even college students! Registration for Karaoke and Typing Contests is March 10th. Registration for the Video Contest is April 30th (The grand prize for this one is $200!) Well then surprise them with a beautiful rose and penguins wrapped in a ribbon delivered straight to their classroom for only $3! You can send it anonymously if you wish and if you would like to buy multiple roses for the same person (a few years ago someone brought a bouquet), feel free to talk to one of us and we can negotiate a "bulk" price for you! ;) We'll be handing free cupcakes to everyone that buys a rose or penguin gram tomorrow so remember to visit us in the Academic Court before we run out!
